Direction (Q. 1 - 5): Following table shows marks scored by six students in an examination. Answer these Questions based on the given table.
What is the sum of total marks scored by students B and C?
Sum = 330 + 405 = 735
What is the difference between the total marks scored by 'A' and that by 'E' ?
Diff = 357 - 330 = 27
What is the average of marks scored by 'F' in each subject ?
333/6 = 55.5
What is the ratio of the total marks scored by C to that by 'B' ?
Ratio = 405/330 = 27/22
Total marks scored by 'E' is what percentage more than the total marks scored by 'D' ?
% = 330 - 240/240 x 100
= 90/240 x 100 = 37.5%
The ratio of a two-digit number and the sum of the digits of that number is 5 : 1 . If the digit in the unit's place is one more than the digit in the ten's place, what is the number ?
Let th two-digit number be 10x + y.
10x + y/x +y = 5/1
or 10x + y = 5x + 5y
or 5x - 4y = 0 ..........(i)
y - x = 1 .........(ii)
Solving (i) and (ii), x = 4, y = 5
Therefore, Number = 45
What is the least number which when divided by 8, 12, 15 and 16 leaves a remainder of 7 in each case ?
Reqd No. is (LCM of 18, 12, 15, 16) + 7
= 240 + 7 = 247
A milkman adds 4 litres of water to 16 litres of milk and another 9 litres of water to 27 litres of milk. What will be the ratio of the fraction of milk in the two mixtures ?
Fraction of milk in the first mixture
= 16/20 = 4/5
Fraction of milk in the second mix = 27/36 = 3/4
Ratio of their strength = 16 : 15
'A' began a business with Rs 800 and was joined afterwards by ' B ' with Rs 600. When did ' B ' join if the profit at the end of the year was divided in the ratio 4 : 1 ?
Let B join the business for x months.
Therefore, 800 x 12/600 x x = 4/1
Therefore, x = 4 months
So B joined after 12 - 4 = 8 months
Two numbers are respectively 35% and 50% more than a third number. What percentage is the first of the second ?
Let the third no. be x
Therefore, 1st no. = 135x/100
and 2nd no. = 150x/100
Therefore, Reqd% = (135x/100)/(150x/100) x 100
= 135/150 x 100 = 90
